I have registered with GFG, applied for a job but I’m a bit confused when applying do I attach my covering letter only or my c.v. as well. I attached my c.v. and put my covering letter where it says answer this question because my covering letter does answer the question.
You only need to attach your covering letter when you are applying for one of the vacancies as your covering letter should be specific to that application.

I am currently in my final undergraduate year and wondered when the best time was to apply through GfG? Is it best to submit my CV asap or is it preferred that people in my position wait until graduation?
Register as soon as you like and keep an eye on the website to see what is available but don't apply for a position until you are able to start work.

Since graduating a few years ago I have been unable to settle in any single job. Can you help?
Graduates for Growth will discuss your career objectives with you and aim to place you in a position which will suit both the graduate and the company. We aim to match not only the required experience and personal qualities needed for the vacancy, but also the personality of the individual, meaning there is a much higher level of job satisfaction.

I've been looking for a job in marketing for a few months now, but most of the vacancies want at least 12-18 months relevant experience. At present I don’t feel I have a chance of getting these jobs - should I even apply?
Why dont you apply for some of the vacancies on our website. We know that graduates are talented and have a proven level of intelligence, and we do not look for as much experience as other recruitment agencies.

I've been thinking about applying for jobs with smaller companies, however I wonder if they may not be able to offer the same training or opportunities as a larger company. Am I correct or should I go ahead with my GfG applications
Often, smaller companies offer much better career benefits as the company is likely to expand, and you will be recognised as a valuable part of the business, rather than a cog in the wheel of a large organisation. Often, promotion is much faster within a smaller company, and you are able to take on more responsibility from an earlier point in your career. It is definately worth going ahead with your GfG applications!

We do our best to keep you informed of any developments in with your application.

The advert doesn't mention the name of the employer. Can I find out?
Most of the time employers choose not to reveal their identity when they recruit through agencies. If you have an interest in the post, apply for it and we will supply you with more details if you are likely to be selected for interview.

I would like to register with GfG but I have difficulties to fill in the form because I have a degree from a European Univeristy. Can I leave the box "Grade" blank?
We welcome all graduates just leave the ’Grade’ blank if it is not in our list. Alternatively, select the option ’other’. Make sure you upload your CV so we can refer to it for your exact university qualifications. As you can imagine it is difficult to cater for all the different universities and their ways of examining and grading students so we just try to make the application and registration form as universal as possible.

I've registered as a candidate but have not yet been contacted by GfG.
Whilst we cannot guarantee recruiters will match you with their vacancies, or indeed decide to contact you, we would suggest that you review your career profile and stored CV if you’ve not been contacted. You may want to double check you’ve selected the most appropriate skill sector(s) for yourself and that you’ve not been too restrictive in creating your candidate profile. Finally, be sure to update your profile whenever any significant change in your work/skill situation occurs, i.e. promotion, change of companies/responsibilities or new qualification.

Does the covering letter we do for gfg need to be a general one, or do we only create the covering letter for each vacancy we are interested in?
The covering letter should be tailored to the position you are interested in, highlighting the aspects of your CV that specifically make your candidature suitable for the vacancy advertised.

Is Graduates for Growth available to graduates world wide or restricted to Scottish graduates?
Graduates for Growth is mainly for graduates who have studied in Scottish Universities. The is because the project was initially set up to retain graduate talent in Scotland in line with Scottish Executive policy. We also have strong strategic alliances with Scottish Universities. However, this is not universal, for instance we would certainly try and place a person who graduated from an English or overseas university, but wanted to live in Scotland.
