General Questions
What is the average graduate starting salary this year? I would be interested to find out as we recruited a graduate about 4 years ago and I need to check how much salaries have increased since we employed our last graduate.

The average graduate starting salary as of 2004 is £20,000, however, this largely depends on the area of work the graduate goes into. Call us on (0131) 477 8029 to discuss specific salary requirements for your company.

Our firm is looking to hire a couple graduates this summer and as an SME what would make a good recruitment process for us?
By using the Graduates for Growth service, SME’s can receive advice on salary expectations and creating the job description.  We will advertise the position and access our extensive database of graduates to source talent.  Additionally, we will search and screen the CV’s and interview prospective candidates.  The most suitable candidates for your company will be shortlisted and their CV's and Covering Letters submitted for you to decide who to interview.  We will organise the interviews, and can even provide an interview room, here at our offices, if necessary.

Is it worth attending Careers Fairs to recruit?
Careers fairs attract a lot of graduate talent, and generally speaking, they are worth attending - depending on the constraints of the company with regards to time management and cash flow. Graduates for Growth attend all careers fairs, and therefore, receive a large number of graduates on our extensive database. If you are unable to attend careers fairs, you can call us on (0131) 477 8029 to discuss your recruitment needs.

Why should I use GfG rather than a traditional recruitment agency?

Graduates for Growth is part funded by Scottish Enterprise, and therefore you know you are getting a better deal financially, than you would at a traditional recruitment service. GfG offer advice on a wide range of recruitment needs from the job description and salary requirements, to the characteristics of the ideal person for the job. We search and select the most appropriate candidates from our extensive graduate database, and interview them, before shortlisting the best graduates for you to interview. We are not about 'bums on seats', we actively aim to place the right graduate for each company. We look at the culture of your organisation and the skills needs and fulfil both of these requirements.

Normal costs associated with a recruitment agency:

Advertising Costs: £2000

20% of first years salary: £3500

+ Cost of internal staff time and other associated costs such as room hire for interviewing, telephone calls and travel expenses.

Graduates for Growth only cost £1100
